Essay 6 Answering a Question with Truth

Essay 06
ANSWERING A QUESTION WITH TRUTH
I was in high school—a pretty with-it guy. Sufficiently experienced as a smart aleck, one day I was not being properly respectful to my father. I was, however, always careful to be truthful with answers to his questions, though my answers tended to be abbreviated.
Dad said “You think you are too big to be paddled, don’t you?”
“Yes” I replied.
I saw that I needed to get gone rather quickly, even though I had a very clear conscience.
I could run faster than Dad could. Unfortunately the barbed wire fence was too near, and it took me too much time to roll under it.
Dad won.
What is the age one is too big to be paddled? I’m not sure.
